Ford Granada mk2 from Romania
« on: August 18, 2011, 21:26:51 PM »
Hello to all,

I've been on this forum for quite a while now just gathering useful information and tips. I just stood aside as I don't have much to share when it comes to mechanical or electrical knowledge   ;D  But I guess I could at least show you my car ... and I might also be in need for help soon  just as most of us newbies.

Just as I bought it:

Then a year later (as I was getting close to being 18 and having my license):

3 months ago:

And the next thing I plan to do:

I took the loom out and I am now trying to sort out what I need and what I don't

I found the most useful technical information on this site so thank you!

Thank you for the warm welcome.

Today I cut some more in the loom and i got stuck. The last 2 wires I cut were leading from a green plug (near driver A pillar) to another plug and then to ECU and PATS. They are blue and grey and twisted together. Are they important ? There were also 2 wires as those described above that went from the same green plug to diagnose plug.

Also, what are these for ?

L.E. : I need the engine, A/C and power steering to work on my Granada.
Thank you!

I figured the wires I cut went from PATS to the doors so I don't need them anyway. Is that correct ?
Still , I don't know what the other 2 things in the pictures do.

@ REGMCI : I took the whole loom  out, from headlights to backlights and cut what I didn't need. So at least in theory it should work at the end.

@ mk2 cossie : it's Imperial Blue, code Ford 500.

L.E. : are any of the 2 "sensors" behind the brake pedal needed ? If yes, what for ?

Thank you!

Welcome...

I'm new here myself, but am currently doing the same thing you are, or mostly I think.

My goal is to fit the scorpio BOB cosworth engine with it's original auto gearbox and original ecu and loom to my MkI Granada coupe.

I too have the complete looms from the donor.

I'm in the process of unwrapping my engine loom, because it needs at least several wires replaced due to cracked and missing insulation. That will be a pretty chore in itself.

Next up is trying to get the bob running on the full loom and only than will I start cutting wires away.

If you'd really want to be of help to others, as I plan to do myself, you may want to create a document that says exactly what wires from te ecu you used and which you left out etc.

I hope you get it done! I would also like to know if you're using the BOB gearbox as well and if you're using the original ecu wth pats (I guess you are).

Nice project! Nice car! Nice lights!

Hi mate,
I can't tell for sure which wires are needed and which are not, as the loom is wrapped and stored on a shelf till summer when I will have the time to finish it. I did use the EECV , PATS, fuse boxes and relays and the auto gearbox was still attached when I last ran the engine. What I did not use what the CCM (black box) and cruise control module (orange box). The ABS module, lights wires etc etc are also extra. You should also check fordscorpio.co.uk for more info.

Cheers!

I've also acquired a lot of info the past week... Am confident that it can be done well.

I'll just take it one step at a time. Thanks for your input as well!

You're welcome! Also, if you are unsure about a certain module or wire you can ask me and I'll do my best to clear it.

Cheers.

The whole exhaust is perished. It's all made from bits welded together so it will remain like this until I will have the money to buy a stainless steel one.

I too like the clean look of the tail lights... I also once tried to whiten my MkI light so only the red reflector would be red, but I couldn't get it to look good...

Nice car!

They are Granada lights, modded by a friend that works with plexi.
