im jay from cornwall,

at the moment ive got a fwd RS2000 mk5, and a escort si daily drive. im looking into a long term project involving putting a 16v RS lump in a sierra, and the possibility of using that floor pan and set up in a mk5 escort

i know its ambisious, though i thought this'd be the best place to learn about it an source the various parts/donor i'm going to need

thats a great offer thank you, what type of sierra did you use as a donor, i'm not really sure what im looking our for, ideal would be a 2wd cosworth for a good diff and gbox i suppose? just a cosworth shell is a few quid more and a shame to cut one up really

a twink was another thought?

Yep I used a twincam, I got it complete for £80 which luckily had the bigger transmission tunnel. By the time I sold all the bits off I was £230 up. I was going YB but worked out very expense. I bought a 7" LSD diff, hybrid mt75, 24v with ecu/loom/v6 type9 for something silly like £600 all added up.

Though it`ll probably be easier if you to get a complete cossy would save you having to source all your bits separately.

I documented it with pics and measurements incase I built another one. Some of the pictures are still online in my old photobucket account if you need anything specific I`ll upload them.

Theres also two good mk4 escort builds on PassionFord`s resto/project section you might want to look at.

i'll get on there and have a look too, would like to see around the fuel tank area... seems to me that everyone fits ally cells instead of the sierra tank, i'm thinking it might fit under a mk5 tho?

Its Beefy and LockesRSparts threads your after. Beefy will help you out with any questions as well and Chris is sound also.
Just noticed Retro_d has a prefab`d shell he`s building up would also be worth a butchers looks like he`s running a custom ream beam set-up with cossie diff and these another guy Cyril Sneer from germany doing a proper full on conversion.

I fitted a efi tank from a mk4 escort and made up custom brackets and hanger.......its the only one I could fit behind the diff. Running a in tank pump and orignal fuel sender so didnt have to play around with the dash but I`m thinking about cutting the boot floor out and puting a bigger custom fab jobbie. The tank seem sits abit to close to the rear valance for my liking. If the boot area was slightly longer I could have got away the sierra one in.

Mk5 escort should have plenty of room behind the diff to fit a sierra tank I reckon.
