its got no engine so what would people recommend, bearing mind i have little(ish) money...  got to be ford or ford derived though... and on ebay

bear in mind also that while i can weld and do a fair bit, my fab skills are not endless and i have a capri to finish as it is so the simpler transplant the better realy, cheers if you can help.

it would nice to make it 4wd actualy, but maybe too much hassle?

2ltr Zetec, (this will fit a type 9 box), or if you can run to it 2ltr Duratec, (which will need a special bell housing). I would say that the Zetec is your best bet, cheap as chips, and can be made to make very decent BHP. Cheers Ray

Agree with Samol.

Get a zetec from a scrappy or even a complete write-off Mondeo so you have the ECU and loom as well.

130 HP out of the box and with a good tubular exhaust on it it's 145 hp.

Might have to change sumps to one of an Escort or Fiesta.

The sump, I think has to be from a CVH to get clearance for the starter motor. If you go Megasquirt, or if you can afford it Emerald, and you stick some M/Bike throttle bodies on its an easy 160 BHP, with decent exhaust as stated. Cheers Ray

Ah yes use a sump from a Sierra 1.8 CVH

For the ECU your better of with a non PATS Mk1 Mondeo , although the PATS ECU's  can be rewired to run without PATS.

Aftermarket ECU is gonna set you back big time if your on a budget.

current bids within 128 quid of my max, with over 13 hours to go so I'm not to hopeful at this stage

Ray, does the zetec have the standard pinto pattern then? and the duratec not? anyway, budget would alow for prop mod so was thinking mt75 and capri 2.8 axle. Those, along with the engine would be the only things i could do right now so bike TBs, emerald management and a quaiffe ATB wouold be for the wish list.
Ive too much to do on the capri today to sit watchin it so I'll keep me fingers crossed it comesmy way, hopefuly under my max (which is a bit more than wifeys happy about   )

The Capri goes for paint TOMMOROW and i have like half the goby desert to hoover out of my shell   - so I'm outahere

Hi, Zetec has the same bolt patern as the ford box, type 9 or MT75. The Duratec is a Mazda engine, (but a bloody nice one), and you have to get a special bell housing, which are made, so obtainable. Cheers Ray
