FFS....

You would think that a VW forum would be fairly chilled and freindly ehhh... We have 2 Mk1's an i am a member of

http://www.vwgolfmk1.org.uk]http://www.vwgolfmk1.org.uk

I posted a breaking for parts about a m8's mk3 a coule of weeks ago and that was deleted saying only parts relating to the MK1 ( bit harsh!! )

So I posted a "MK3 calipers suitable to upgrade to 280MM disks on MK1"

Ok you need some brakets for whcih I provided the link...

Also Fkin deleted!!!

I am starting to thign that the VW sceen is realy anal and not the surfur dude chilled hangout it should be...

I  put up a post sayin I am compelled to leave and that's gone too.

If I did not have a soft spot for the MK1 golf I would not be bothered but I lie our 2..

Other /vdub forums seem similarly uptight....

Never known anything like it..

Bit harsh if you ask me.......the brakes are relevant to a mk1 as they`re an upgrade.

Cant really comment as I`ve only ever owned Fords and dont really go on an other marque forums but they sound a wierd bunch.

Well its not a german car thing, i used to be on Audiforums when i had an S4 and the folk were o.k. I spose it only takes one moderator to take a dislike to either your posting style, content or humour and your posts will disapear for the shakiest of reasons. I think you did the right thing in leaving.

I found the Capri bunch to be a bit cliquey and childish (maybe cos so many are like 17 or 18). NONE of the capri forums are any good - they either have no activity  or are mobbed by people who are more into forums than capris and know buggerall about anything. I tried to learn on a few capri sites but i found the older members were mainly show posers, who only keep their cappas cos they would have no life (social or otherwise) without it. Some are 45+ oddball "fagins" who use the retrocool factor to "get with the youngsters" cos everyone else there age has kids and a new bmw.

As for this site - I have had no greif off anyone at all - a few misunderstandings with the non u.k memebers but realy just language issues.
I did wonder if Tony would delete/ban me at one point tho - for playing devils advocate over his (excellent) auto powered sprint times - I'm not joking when i say i have been banned from a certain sight just cos I said i hated people stripping decent cappas for the money the parts will fetch on the bay - at the time, ididn't know the site admin practicly did this for a living, so he banned me lol GOOD! the flippin parasite

btw - I did a life size stage prop of a mk1 golf last year for a production at the school I work at - it now hangs on a prominent wall cos they liked it so much but i wanted to ebay it - imagine... a mk1 in your front room lol

i am not going to let this site drop to levels others have, we allow people to have there own opinions and as long as its debate and not slagging then fine! i also tend to leave posts a few hours (unless its to bad) for the posters to come to there sences, so far they have and little to no action has taken place!!

some forums do it there own way i do it the right way!!

Of course, oddballs are fine, the world needs more oddballs I think... and BMWs too  cos they are so well engineered... :  biggrin

Seriously tho - what i meant was that some underachieving middle agers HAVE to drive old bangers cos they can't afford a "sensible car" like a BMW... and some lonley misfits drive modern classics purely to get into the scene, go to shows and wax lyrical to impressionable kids who haven't got out much yet. Its a small pond, the capri scene, where a fairly average fish thinks hes a 70lb pike when it comes to their cars. Thats why I prefer it on sites that aren't as model specific, you get a more diverse mix in a bigger pond where there's always someone bigger than you who can eat you whole on the subjects we discuss.
This would be off putting to the types i described cos they wouldn't get to be fountain of all knowledge...  whereas I have no use at all for sites where I'm the most knowledgeable person there - nothing to be gained, no answers to be had.

I am tempted to put a 24V in the 3dr MK1 Golf with a A4LDE ... The cars weigh nowt and with a slightly modded BOA it would be fun..

I will give it a few months rest on that forum, There's not much they can tel me anyway....

i am out off clubs for a few years now and there are only few forums i go to, to have a look and there is only 1 forum that keeps it interesting for me.

I found the Capri clubs in the netherland to be a bit cliquey and very childish, certainly if you drive a capri, thats different that wat they own. when i said that i would build my first capri v8, everyone laught at me and said i was a dreamer, when i did build the capri v8, everyone laught at me, because i could not get my car legal, witch i proved them wrong. and after that i was not longer welcome in the club. even some members off the biggest capri club, where talking not so nice about it. when i took the car out to a ford show for the first time, in '93 in belgium and won the first prices whit it, the car was banned by them. the 2e capri v8 i had and sold to a couple could not believ my story about the capri clubs, but they suffert the same faith, they where even asked not to show up whit that capri or park it somewhere else. now years later most people accept the capri v8's, but not all off them. maybe a bid jealous????

i can not speak for vw and vauxhull clubs and forums, but from what i hear and see, its not much beter.

for the dutch peolpe, take a look at ford world. if i see that forum, i always wunder how old they are and if they even have a car themselfs. but they all know it beter than you and they all have beter cars than you. fights are programmed on that forum.

i found out that if you want to sell something, its beter to put it on ebay or a other selling site.

no people, let me stay here on this forum, its the only forum, i feel at home.

Agree with Paul here.

You're only accepted if you mod the car to what's been done to death.

The first time I showed up with my V6 Escort, they laughed and said: ow that will never work, its too heavy, it won't pass the MOT and SVA etc. etc.

Ha proved them wrong. There were already 4 V6 Escorts built but none had the balls to get it SVA'd because it CAN'T be done.

Hm my registration papers state otherwise tho?

The people on here try and listen if you try something new and won't shy away to help and give advice etc.

BIG THUMBS UP GUYS
