thanks, i am alway happy to help.

and sadly, whit a "big holiday" coming up in 2 weeks, i have some more free time. 4 weeks ago my company announced to get rid off 1450 people. but i was in the clear and they would renew my contract, till last monday, when they announced a other 600 peolpe would lose there job. and i am one off them. not really happy whit this. so i hope i find a new job soon. or i have the time to go for the 10.000e post. so if someone got a decent job for me, let me know....

In these times its hard to find a job. And in your Netherlands I thought there were less unemployment than in Germany?
But with your abilities you can start your own business, build up european RWD Fords with nice Windsor-engines, should be easy to get 10.000+ bucks per car :D
So why not connect the duty with the fun

i have tought many times to start on my one, but there where several reason that hold me back, tax is the first thing, i need to triple my price by 3 or 4 just to keep a some money to live. and the money thing brings me to a other problem, there arent many people willing to pay the price for custom work. even if i would work whitout paying tax, the price is still to high for most people. and for normal car repairs, there are to many people doing that, next to there shifts or wellfair, the amount off customers will be low. i still do that, but at the moment you notice that people arent really willing to do all the repairs or maintance. peolpe start to get scared by the economic crisis and are keeping the money in there pocket's. just a example, i have the black capri v8 for sale for the cost price off building it, no buyers.

but regulations are a other big, very big problem. there are so much regulations, the cost just to get started are so high, you work for a bank the first 30 years, if the banks willing to lend you money to start a garage, whit so many dealers and garage's going bankruped. i helped a friend to start his one garage a few years back, so i know whats coming at me if i want to start a garage. even picking a decent location or starting in my one house is a big no no. the locale goverment wants you on a business location, so the can carge more money for floorspace and sinds a garage blow up and burned down, 1 street off the spot i live, no garage or petrol station is allowed in the town. the owner off that garare is a good friend off mine, we helped him back up his feet, but thanks to the local goverment, he had to move his garage to a other city and is limited to do only gearboxes, no maintance, at the moment he is planning to go to belguim where the rules are not so stricked as in the netherlands. as for car conversions in belguim, its very difficult to get something legal there. why do you think there arent many belguim people here.

as for the labour market, guess it starting to get the same as in germany. alote off company's are firing there peolpe and "hiring" people that have wellfair and are in a re -integration program or school people that need to do a practial training from school, because they work for free or get financed from the goverment. its something like the 1 euro jobs you have in germany.

i guess i just need a bid off luck to find work again. and i hope its soon.

Paul, I read your post.  Could you buy/rent a house somewhere else where a business was done from next to the house in the yard or garden?

I bought a house which is 120 years old.  It's always had a business working from the workshop/unit behind the house in the yard and now I use them.  I pay business rates/tax but no rent because I own the unit.  I had to look at old properties near the town centre to find this feature.  The house and unit are on my plot of land.

capri v8 driver

the goverment does not want a garage in towns, so every new garage has to go to a industrie park. you can start you business there, but your not allowed to live there. so i end up whit paying twice the rent or morgage, one for the garage and the house. and the floor price on the industrie parks are very high. normaly the price is 3 to 4 higher, then renting a normale house. ad the cost off tax and the added cost to complay whit the regulations, and you get a picture off the cost. it to high for me at this moment.

Oh boy and I get annoyed with our lots-of-rules here in Germany, I could not imagine this could be worse somewhere else, especially in the very liberal Netherlands...

Quoteespecially in the very liberal Netherlands...

that was a time ago. the goverment we have now is killing the liberal in a hurry.
