Dodgy goings on...............
« on: September 15, 2008, 17:05:29 PM »
Got up early this morning to put the bins out, was a lovely morning nice and sunny......so thought right I`ll crack on today with making the a gate (Just to fill you in the parents are pissed off with people using the entrance to our driveway to turn around, gets churned up easily and people keep hitting the pillars and knocking them over. So I got hold of a 10ft 2nd hand one, just need to make another one around the same size as the entrance is on an angle so its quite wide.)

Anyway its about 10am and I`m crashing on with getting all the bits cut to size, suddenly I heard a large vehicle pull up the drive. Thought nice one its the courier with my frst recaro seats I`ve just brought since the postie had already been and gone.

Walk out through the old man`s garage (was out back doing all the cutting and left the garage out so I could hear if anyone pulled up) two blokes are walking about looking at my van. One of them turns around sees me and asks how much I want for it. Tell him its not for sale, then the other says we were just passing and thought we`d pop in (thought yeah bet you fooking did!) Bear in mind its got a sheet covering it plus theres usually my fiesta parked behind and a transit beside it so its not like it stands out, can barely see any of it.

I`m standing at the door to the garage and then clocks the range rover on axle stands and the series3 he asks how much I want for them too. I`m like nothing is for sale they`re all projects mate. Has a good look over my escort and fiesta and then gets in the car and drives off. Got the reg number luckily.

Just got the gate built but I`m not taking any chances tonight. Both transit and fiesta are as close as I can get them to box the van it, gun safe is unlocked. Something isnt right........I`ve had afew people ask about if stuff is for sale (van and range rover previously) but not just just come up the drive, not bother to knock and then ask if any vehicle is for sale.

Anyone else have trouble with cheeky fookers like this?

I know around Sutton,Croydon,Coulsdon,Dorking alot of MK1/2 escorts have gone walkies lately, going to get these gates up asap this week and order up some security lights me thinks.

Yes the bastards were about in force yesterday...about midday a white transit goes past the gate to the farm down to our field gates, reversed up, 3 got out 1 stayed in the drivers seat and another 3 passed them a chain out of the back they then hooked it round the gates just as the first 3 started to try and lift our 5 ton tractor trailer which we leave behind the gates for this reason.....At which point my uncle arrives across the field and gives them the shock of there life so to speak....once they had gathered there thoughts for a second they were in the van and away like a rocket....pikeys of course...they have had 3 goes at it now and if it dunt stop my uncle might be the next tony martin.......

I grew up next door to one of the most notourus camps in the midlands.

Cops wouldn't go in with out 5 riot vans & armed police.

Half the camp is now in prision so much better now

They use to run a chop shop & god knows what else.

There is good ones & bad ones.

I sort of got use to them & know how to deal with them.

Infact they bring me Sierra's & Scorpio's before they take them to the scrapy's as they know I mess with them & I bung them a few quid for any bits I take off.

Please watch the swearing lads.

You know i read they were knicking drain covers and manhole covers    getting 2 bob for them each (they took loads) and it cost the council (us) HUNDREDS each to replace

I had them asking about my transit years ago - and it always turns into a row when you say you don't want to sell your van and you don't want to by a horse or dog off them.

I'm sure you'll find it to be periwinkle blue scatter cushions.

I grew up with a couple in Ireland. We called them "knackers" (not to their faces though). When you got to know them they were alright, great on a piss up. Its just the way they live, not arsed about rules, just about making money and looking after each other.

Unfortunatly, it tends to be ordinary people who provide this money for them.

However, I've known far more unscrupulous and thieving fookers than knackers.

My mate`s unit was done over afew months back, its on a farm along with 11 other units. Some blokes broke the double door in, nicked all the snap on tools that were in cases/sets and any electric stuff in all 12 units.  There`s always alot of scrap cars kicking about down there, so they bundled everything in the back of a scrap escort van and drove off.........right past the farmer house early one morning.
Never heard a thing since, there was two lots of tools as he shares the unit with a mate. He went out and brought just cheap tools incase if happens again. He`s welded a pipe with 3 smaller loose inside so its a job to cut through, that goes across the entrance. Its also hooked it up to a spare electric fence set-up the farmer had.

They`ll probably still get in if they want to so how far do you go with spending on security? You can do without stuff like this happening. Hope the customer understands and you continue the work.
