hi guys,
i've tried to start my 4i after a few years doing nothing, and the following happened.
i drove the car for a few hundered meters, made a 180 turn, drove back to the shed, got in reverse to the door, the engine died and did'nt want to run since.
i've got about 20 liters of gas out of the tank, and threw in a few literes of fres fuel.
somewhere in the process of renewing many parts i had to pull out the complete ignition, and i placed it back on the proper way, the rotor arm is in the middle of the stripy mark on the outer ring, while the crank is on the second pin of the ignition timer on the crank pulley.
i'm replacing the leads and see if the ignition is still okay tomorrow, maybe it helps.
next, my purple relay is a bit dodgy, if i'm trying to start it flickers on and off, so i directly connected the fuel pump leads with a wire with to spoons, so the pump runs contiueasly, but also, no start. it tries a bit, becouse you can hear a near ignition in the exhaust, but not enough to actually start the engine.
i've do got sparks, so the coil wont be the problem i believe.
could it be a dodgy fuel pump relay? does that one also switch on the ignition thingie located on the fender?
