found my way back here!
« on: September 24, 2013, 13:26:20 PM »
Hi guys,

i'm back after a bit of a rough time...

something to do with breaking up with my ex-girlfriend (5 years minus a week), giving away my car to her (not my 4i!!!), being very, very broke becouse she took the most of my money, my illness didnt help me much, became depressed and all kinds of crap more. so, a bit of a rough time since januari.

on the other hand, ive found a new love, got my 4i up and running (a bit rough, but it runs, fuel pump didnt broke, fuel pump relay wasnt broken, fuseholder had a broken wire....) and on original engine mounts again, a few things to save money for like a new battery and 4 new tires, steering rubbers, (the harmonica stuff), and new brakelines at front, and a few little welding issues.

in the meanwhile ive became owner of a focus 1 phase 1 ghia with full options, and... a very healthy 2.0 zetec, my new little bmw killer, with its plastic wood trim, and it's beige leather interior, so i'm mobile again.

i did overthink my project a few times, and i've came to my senses. i'll rebuilt my 2.8i engine with stock pistons, and build the turbo kit how turbo technics designed it... a 2.8 MFI turbo.

i've decided it makes much more sense to start over with a 2.9 engine and a single turbo, got all the strong parts for the 2.8/2.9 engine, like the proper pistons, rods and such, and becouse a friend of mine is building his own ECU, based on the sensors from a 2.9i scorpio it would be easyer to adapt those parts...

so, i've got to buy me a pair of big end bearings for my stock 2.8 engine, and cranck bearings, and start building again...I only need me a TT profiling block for the metering head...

cheers,

Timo

ps, i'm a bit less active on the interweb, my girlfriend has a very sweet little daughter, so i became daddy at once  ;D

ive always been in cars. believe me, the only rooms in my house without car parts are the bathroom and the toilet, lucky me, my girlfriend saved room in our living room closet for my dream ford collection (sierra's and escort mk1 / mk2 models ;D), but that are just a few of them. got my Xr4i reflectorplate in my window, and my cossie bonnet lives in my bedroom hahahahahahaha

tanx dave, i might ask you a few questions abouth building me a 2.9er turbo, witch engine to start from and such, maybe i'll be able to write an article about what castings to use and such. i already have rods and pistons and a tt DSU, and i have a guy who is willing to make me flanges for an manifold, my brother in law will do the welding, and i think i'll find me a proper turbo for the setup... maybe a screamerpip instead of an internal wastegate, but, the turbo will be on the other side of the engine, near the brake servo is really, really crappy...
