Burton no longer list them by the looks of it so i bought some 15mm thick wall stainless steel pipe should do the trick.

Make sure they fit exactly mate otherwise you will get vibrations.

It's the dowels that line everything up, the bolts just keep it together.

i have 15.2 mm on the bell housing holes so with the 15mm stainless dowels i can have a maximum of 0.4mm to play with is this too much?
Don't know what the block measures but I'm sure its going to be around 15mm surely !?

No mate the reason I said that is a gearbox I built failed at around 10K & the guy went mad blaming me & also his mate blamed me who owned the garage who put the box in for him.

He helped me take the box out & there was no dowels fitted.
I showed him all the damage caused by not having the dowels fitted which you could see as the box was a good 4 mm + off centre.
His new clutch, gear set & front bearings were all shot.

He fell out big time with his so called mate at the garage who fitted it & sold the car cause he was sick of it!

Was a bit of a hot head

My advice would be fit the proper thing whiteestate or machine the pipe the same.

Also the dowels for Cologne heads are the same diameter, maybe you can get them.

I take it Ford don't have any then ??????

These are common dowels size as ford uses them a lot. They are also used between the block and head on most 4l, v6 and v8's.

I have some in a block for the heads, they measured the same as the box ones but not sure on the length or I have some stainless tube 16.06 od and 11.6id.

I'm sure I got some off burton recently for the new engine but I would need to check my receipts for the part no. The head ones are http://www.burtonpower.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=Tv1442

I'm going to pop down to fords tomorrow and have a look to see what they have got as my pal is the parts manager so he should let me have a look at a few types the stainless rod i have got is going to be too loose as the dowels are usually a tight fit.

What did you end up doing here then?

You get sorted?

whiteestate

Ford do actually do them i have picked 2 up yesterday and will fit them sunday ford tried to give me the 1/2'' ones saying they were correct until i showed them the correct item on the parts finder. They are 15.2mm diameter and are the same for all cologne v6 engines
