CALLING ALL 24V BOB COSWORTH SCORPIO OWNERS Please Read !!
« on: March 08, 2013, 12:50:24 PM »
Hi Guys / Gals,

Does anyone on here have a Scorpio "Bug Eye" Cosworth 24V V6 1995 - 1997 Model Year that IS NOT FITTED WITH PATS (chipped keys) ???

I am currently involved in a Project on here to end up with a remappable ECU for the BOB and really need to do a (harmless) read on a non PATS ECU.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers Dave

Apparantly some were made without, maybe not in this country, maybe for a specialist market (Police, Forces, Embassy), but wiring diagrams tell us that some had NO PATS

after 3-1996 they all had pats internally.

The exam had a external pats module.

If the injectors are on pin 96, 20, 70, 95, 93 and 94 the ecu has internally pats.

If the injectors are connected to pin  101, 73, 74, 75, 99  and 100, it has a separated pats module.

There are 3 different wiring diagrams for the BOB, so you cannot swap the ecu's.

I think you mean 1998 on, as we've yet to find a BOB ECU with the 'internal' PATS "C" and we have all the pre 1998 ECUs which are all external PATS.  We also have a 1998 TACK and that too is external PATS (type "B")  ;)

The exam had a external pats module.

So does EXIT, EACH, EVER, SITE and FILM, these are PATS "A", and TACK is PATS "B"
PATS "A" and "B" are both external modules.

If the injectors are on pin 96, 20, 70, 95, 93 and 94 the ecu has internally pats.
If the injectors are connected to pin  101, 73, 74, 75, 99  and 100, it has a separated pats module.

That is incorrect.
Cars with separate PATS module are wired as per 'PATS' pin outs.

There are 3 different wiring diagrams for the BOB, so you cannot swap the ECU's

Sort of, the 3 wiring diagrams are PATS type "A, B or None" so you can swap any PATS "A" with another PATS "A", etc etc.
If you wanted to, you could swap ECU's by simply swapping over a few wires at the pin outs  ;)
In practice most BOBs are PATS "A" so will swap over no problem.

Anyway, a bit off topic, I just need a read of a non PATS ECU, if any still exist  ;)

Cheers Dave

No 24v BOB ECU had a internal PATS module that's a fact.

Non PATS was an option but for what reason & if any was sold I have no idea.

Pats A & B SCP was STD fitment for the BOB only, other engines also used ISO PATs etc.

I would say they are PATs A, B & Non Pats.

Should be two for production start to end that have changes at 08/96.

All the info I have found actually contradicts each other which makes this whole thing a nightmare to sort out.
Ford can't even agree themselves whats what!

I would say you are spot on there ;)

There was alleged to be a internal PATS but the last ECU's were TACK and as we know they are the ones with PATS 'B'.
Matt and I found that the ECU's we use (pre TACK), with separate PATS Module, have the injectors wired as per PATS pin outs.

And that could be the reason why I have it wrong, but in the diagrams I have (and use) there are 3 different versions in cooperated in the drawing.
