Cosworth 24v starter motor
« on: August 29, 2012, 14:00:41 PM »
Hi I've been using a 2.8 starter motor which I ground down to fit up against the sump, it's finally given up though, its a boa engine with 2.8 flywheel and t9 gearbox, would a 24v starter work on this setup or am I going to have to get another Capri starter?

Do you have a 2 or 3 bolt starter?

If it's 2 bolt any V6 starter should work.

Why did you have to grind down the starter?

It's a 2 bolt, and i had to grind the side of the starter and the bolts on the oil return pipe to allow for a 2.8 starter to be fitted on to a t9 gearbox with boa motor

You need a early 2.9 starter. That one is small and has the correct number of theeths for the gearwheel.

2.9's are used with a t9 in granada/scorpio's, thats the starter you need. Some automatics fit as well.
