I have made good results on the 24v vith one of these gt35 turbo`s.

http://www.cxracing.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=CXR&Category_Code=TRBT35

They have a 61.3/82mm compressor wheel and a 62/67.8 turbine wheel. .70/.63AR

Yes a copy of a GT30, 35 or even a GT40 will do the job.

Without working it out at a guess a GT30 would be best as it will spool up pretty fast on a 24V.

Yeah I remember you saying.
The turbine is a little different to a true GT35 by the looks of it.

You got a dyno plot so v6gerry can see the difference.

Also note it has no inbuilt wastegate.
Most of the China copies do & they are usally journal bearing.

Would be a good idea to start a new topic now as it's not really got anything to do with Damocos's topic anymore.

That would be a good idear Dave as it already showen we have all done differant set ups with diferant results that can be built on , i  for one don't no much about turbo just no that it should give you more power , like you your really indepth with them with very good advise.

Thats a big hill  ;D

Did you find out why the torque drops like it does?

Yeah it was where we cut the wastegate spring in half.....!!!! It wouldnt open till 17psi.... :o So to get it mapped as we couldnt locate another spring we cut the original so the gate would open at 10psi but towards the end the gate was staying open permanently so the power just dropped off  :( I now have a boost controller so its now set perfect. After the mapping i took it for a brief spin up the road but you could hear the screamer blowing where the gate was open so it would boost then drop really quick. Its ok now, i have an 8psi spring in place and all seems well but it will be a few weeks till i know if it holds boost properly. Should be ok me thinks......

Sorry to say you can see by the graph that turbo does not suit the engine.

The turbine end flows too much so it spools late & the compressor end flows too little hence the nose diving torque plot!

It will be off the effiency maps.

Really........ Bugger!!!!   I did alot of research before buying a turbo and from what i read and asked the one i have is about right?  Hmmm Would you think that where i had wastegate issues and the gate staying open all the time where i cut the spring would be one of the main reasons why the power dropped like it did? I did drive it on a 12psi spring without a boost controller and it was holding boost till 18psi but i didnt notice any drop in power through the rev range..... Admittedly i only did this twice as im sure it would have gone pop...lol and i only took it up to 5.7k

The turbo i have is a KKK27  Anyone know what measurements this turbo has as im a bit underknowledged in this area. Atm the turbo is apart so i can measure the compressor and turbine wheels. What else do i need to measure to get the right info?

I can only see what your graph tells me mate, so if you have had issues & it's affected your graph then it will also affect what I see so then what I say is then rubbish!  ;D

I am assuming everything is set up correctly.

Your torque is dive bombing above 4K it shouldn't be, if your pulling 375 lbs of torque then you should make a very similar horse power figure with the 24V. If not somethings wrong.

So your down by around 50 hp.

What is the full part number from the plate of the turbo & I will see what I can tell you.

Hey Ade  ;) Not much really.... Did Nurburgring in Aug, did nearly 800 miles in a day there and back. Was bloody hot tho and had a few little issues but got me there and back so all good ;D Used the car for a weekend jaunt to Amsterdam to see friends in November and its been tucked away ever since lol. Have fitted a 3.36.1 rear diff now and I am literally about to have the gearbox out to get it freshened up and try an organic clutch as I'm pissed off with the harshness of the 4 paddle  Also booked into Emerald next month for a health check as my mate Pete has now finished twin turboing his BOB Capri so it made sense to travel up at the same time ;D

How's the 3dr coming along?

Hi Gerry, do you get any judder from pull away? That's what I get with the 4 paddle.... Apart from that its ok but just the initial pull away I hate. If it was an out and out track toy I would live with it but on a day to day basis its shit  ;)

hi I've had that happened twice when I first put it in , but now ok . I think hydrolic is the way to go much better control then cable , really pleased with the alcon nearly went AP route but got advised not to for road use , cos they are heavy / in or out for track use . i'll try and get hold of that chap I spoke to i'm sure he had organic and hated it .

if your flywheel is not ground flat then clutches will judder on take up,could be a high spot.I have a twin plate paddle clutch and get no judder, its either on or off but the hydraulic set up i have works well.
Does your paddle clutch have the springs on the centre boss? if so it could be those worn out,or if its solid it will judder if the flywheel is not flat, they act like a mini dual mass flywheel and protect transmission.

I fitted my master cylinder in the car under the dash, fitted on the otherside of the pedal pivot and facing backwards, this increased my fulcrum and made for less effort on the foot but an utter twat to fill up to bleed the system :P its not leak as yet so hopefully wont have to bleed again anytime soon.

When I fitted the clutch the flywheel looked good as it had been skimmed previous and had only done approx 4k on a std clutch with std power. The plate itself was brand new and it does have the sprung middle. It is an AP one tho and have heard they are quite fierce. So maybe then it could be the flywheel contributing..... I shall be getting it skimmed again to be safe ;)

I am looking to do the hydraulic conversion too but as I run a big servo I cant get a master cyl out the bulkhead :( I would be interested to know more about your setup and if you run a std pedalbox ;D

That's good news then mate  ;D  eu touring  I found the six paddle Alcon fine really, people I have spoken to say its best to have the flywheel ground as it gives a much better finish removing any high / hot spots. I had wondered how Pete was getting on, any pics of his Capri ?
That sounds like a good day on the cards at emerald then Damo two v6 turbos  what date is it?

Mine well....  I have a new 6 degree beam and a supra diff I'm sorting out ATM and the new engine is well underway, not sure when it will be back on the road yet  but defo this year.

Well I have gone for an AP 6 paddle with a std cover. Have had the flywheel skimmed again and for now just a new grp A quadrant and cable as I simply don't have the time to sort a hyd conversion :( Asked loads of people for info and advice and this seems a good route but we shall see...??? Im off to Emerald on 17th & 18th April so got a bit to do before then. Pete's Capri is all ready so will be interesting to see how that performs ;D

it shouldn't need alot as its just boost they have to deal with.the boost fueling and timing is already set on the map sensor parameters.but be good to get a graph.get them to set the igntion to 31 @0 throttle above 3k to 6k.leave the full overun on and you should get some nice pops and flames when you lift off

Watch the egt aswell as ades standard exhaust valves got a little to hot.you need nimonic with bronze guides to run over 850 degrees celcious on a long pull.be ok for the odd squirt on the road but watch it if on track.

You could use stainless steel valves and Berrylium Copper seats.

Here a picture of the valve seats and valves I use for my 7.0 v8 twin turbo.
