24 V Cam covers splash guards ?
« on: July 27, 2011, 21:06:25 PM »
As above I have had a dash12 welded to each cover in the original locations and a dash8 return to the sump.

After welding one of the splash guards has come out  I will be having a custom separator and breather from bailey or spec r later on so should I replace it or not and with ? rivets or what, as ford only dressed a small head of the alloy cover over them  :'( The yb they drill the cam cover and let the separator sort out oil back to the sump. So repair or ditch ???

Cheers Ade

using a breader and a catch can is something i would do.

you could use rivets to hold the splash guards or little screws with some lock tight.

I would refit the splash guard as it makes life easier for the oil separator.

The crank case breathing of a turbo engine is very important, you want it to work the best it can.

Puffs of smoke on YB's etc is not usally worn turbo's but poor breathing systems.

When I had my covers powdercoated I removed the splash plates and refitted them with M5 bolts and Loctite.

Just make sure the camlobes don't hit them.

I used flathead Allen bolts.
