Donington last weekend - tvr race meeting.

This was the view from the driver's seat.  Was quite an exciting race until the battery went flat.

The driver seemed to brake late, on the bends, go off line and get caught coming out the corners. No shortage of umph in the car tho...

Yes, an ls3 with some basic mods. It's built to comply with power to weight regs but recently beat the Le Mans corvettes on the same circuit as well as Moslers and some Vipers.  It races in europe sometimes as well.

I watched the whole thing - he has to let a guy through at about 2.30 or something, moves over mid bend and the backend came out a bit... I watched on in the hope of more of that but he kept it tidy after that :'(
You could really hear it sucking up the air couldn't you, with the thump the V8 behind it   I was actually willing him to rev it a bit harder but I guess he knows where the power is

Edit - 2.47, and although he concedes the line, he motors past on the ouside with his mikey power v8. Watching it again, the engine is crushing the opposition. Its look like only 2 or 3 other cars there are on par for grunt

Morning chaps.  Thanks for the comments on the car.  Watching the video back there are certainly a few lines that aren't right - turning in early and not getting on the power early, plus a few lock ups into the chicane which lost time too.  Overall simply not carrying enough speed through some of the corners.  It’s not a bad effort but could be better!

The car is more powerful than the others there (though heavier), but it would be unfair to say that all of its advantage is down to the engine.  You’ll see many of the overtakes were through Craner Curves and some round the outside in corners – that’s less about power and more about handling and grip.  Craners can be taken flat in the Sagaris, but needs a lift and/or a dab on the brakes in a Tuscan Challenge car.   Our Sagaris is actually built on a Tuscan Challenge chassis and running gear/suspension etc so the two should be very similar.  The difference comes from a more comprehensive roll cage which stiffens up the chassis a little, slightly wider tyres, an aero kit which helps in the high speed corners and a lot of work on spring rates, dampers and set up.  A classic Tuscan trait is to pick up the inside front wheel exiting corners – we’ve done a lot of work to cure it of that and as a result have a car that is far more planted and less prone to oversteer.  That enabled me to come from a long way back in the approach to Craners and as the Tuscan drivers lifted off I could stay on the power and drive round them.

It’s most obvious at about 9.20 in the video – following a white Tuscan out of McLeans – that car is really struggling for grip exiting the corner, whilst I can get on the power with no fuss.

That said, lots of power is always nice ;)

P.S.  There is a bit of Ford in the car.  Rear hubs are Ford Granada ;D

Sag V8, nice vid you did well mate  ;D I would be proud if it was me!!! The TVR is a real handful with that sort of grunt, proper power. Wish I had an 8 now, makes six seem quite pathetic  :'(
Keep up the good work, and I think it's down to the rear hubs that the car is so quick

Janspeed, I was looking at some more of his vids the (first start) one is the lump under the hood shot, firing up

Hi Mike!  There is a little gizmo on You Tube that tells you where people have been referred from - clicked on it and it brought me here...
