its a tricky track, but you drove well. go back there and start driving. maybe a good idea is to ask a instructur to come whit you, they can show you the tricks and tip's about how to drive there.

I think you did well    you seemed to be on the correct line mostly and you passed more cars than what passed you. being behind the porsche seemed to lift your pace for a while...fair play.

Got to go when its good weather I'm thinking - I'd want all the grip I can get. You know lots of folk have died there on open track days    trouble is theres no runoffs realy and lots of concrete walls. other thing is that tarquin in his 911 will shunt whatevers left of you car into even more bit cos hes going so fast and you happened to come to rest on the exit on a blind bend - be careful...and concider rollcaging.

the ring is not silverstone or a other racetrack. the 2 biggest problems whit the ring are the wheather and the lenght off the course. its a track you don't learn whitin a day. it takes alote off rounds to learn the track. the wheather is the next problem, its not the same all year around, sometimes its cold and wet, the other day its dry and hot. on this track you can have both on the same day and time, but on a different place of the track. those two combined make it a very tricky track to drive fast.

thats why i said, talk and take a instructur whit you, they can show you the tricks and tip's about how to drive there. it can not hurt.

but there are enough people that crash there. so take care.

Oh yeah that brings back memories

Sounds like your passenger was a bit scared

Camera well depends who is on the gate, I chatted to them with my camera clearly on show & mounted ready to go no probs.

I was lucky my first lap I got to follow the Ring Taxi, well for about half the way then we hit the fast section & didn't dare keep with it.   I was hitting like 130 & it was pulling away from me.

I will be there next year for sure

this may sound like a daft question but..... i've never been interested in "fiddle box" games consoles but are they a viable way of learning a track before going?

Yes and no.

From my perspective watching the video, and having played Nuremburgring about 1 zillion times on GT4, I could compare how the game was, and for the most part it was pretty damn accurate. Unfortunately with the game you lose alot of information (G-forces around corners, braking, accelerating) that you would get driving the track in reality. And of course it would depend on the car you would pick on the game and whether or not you drove the same car in reality. However, I think it would increase the familiarity of the track slightly.

I'm not sure if I would rely on GT4 as a training tool. Without being there in real life I cannot say that the game is 100% accurate or not in the track, the bumps and dips in the track, or how grippy the course is compared to the track in real life. Also in real life the track is so large (as another poster stated already) that one end of the track has one type of weather, and the other side might be totally different, where the game is one kind of weather for the entire track: Sunny and perfect.

For me GT4 is a game. It seems to be a very well made game, the physics is very good, and it seems to have the same bumps and dips and general road feel compared to the video I watch (they seem to be about the same place). But as to how accurate it is, I'm not certain. It's for fun.

I agree, PGR is a good way to go round the track but as i've just found out actually driving round it is completly different, the game doesn't do justice to cambers/inclines at all
