XR8 help needed

can anyone help me? picking up an xr8 next week and need to know if there is anything in particular to look out for that could be bad! also were would be the best place to get parts from that would be exclusive to the car? any help would be appreciated. if it is easier to talk then leave a number then i will call you thanks, Paul

Don't think anyone on here has an XR8 of either variety (sierra or falcon) as these cars were only available in s.africa (sierra) or australia (falcon). I dare say there is a few have been shipped abroad but never seen any mention on here.
Best thing to do is what you obviously are doing already - google, google, then google some more  

That said, I would imagine that the same advice applies to lookinjg at one as most other cars - check for oil leaks, overheating, crud in the exspansion tank, worn down pedal rubbers and seats on suposed low milers, check wheels for alignment, panel gaps for regularity and all the stuff you probs already know - hope it turns out well for ya...and welcome to the boards here - you could be the resident xr8 expert

The XR8 Sierra is really nice to drive except for the lack of PAS. Bhav the secretary of the XR4Register has one which I've driven from time to time. As for what to look out for check the normal mk1 sierra weak points like rear arches etc. The thing I would ensure though is originality including the massive rear diff, front spats and front grill which are all different to other sierras. Even the seats look different to any sierra I have seen and are very comfortable. Bhav has got some spares like clutch cables and hoses from SA though original spats and grills are not available any more only copies. Other mk1 sierra grills do not fit correctly either. The rear brake disks are unique to the car and Bhav had to get AP Racing to make a set of discs up which were not cheap, it was to do with the number of bolts used to attach the rotor to the bell being non standard.

I know there used to be place in Petersfield,Hampshire that imported Falcon XR8 utes and did uprated parts from Oz.  Cant for the life of me remember the company name   I`ll have a search around.

nice one.bhav's number would be good, cheers. i did try to go onto the xroc site and i was a former member a couple of years ago. my pc warned me that the site could harm my computer and i could not actually get there???unfortunately my car has a cossie interior as the fabric was knackered due to the african weather! oh well, still has a v8!

I assume you mean the http://www.xroc.co.uk/]http://www.xroc.co.uk/ site which does seem to make web browser show a warning. That website does not really have any info and the forum link will take you to www.xrstyle.co.uk but the xr4register website is www.xr4register.com which show pictures of previous and forthcoming events etc.

Don't now if it helps, but there is an XR8 belonging to an XROC member from Glasgow, Can't remember his name though. always something else to check on, BTW he owns a garage in Glasgow, and he used to take the car to shows up here in the north, I visted him and bought a few bits and bobs from him, at that time he told me the front grill on the XR8 was unique to that car because of the size of the radiator.
