Hello from the Netherlands
« on: September 12, 2014, 11:57:03 AM »
So first I want to introduce myself. My name is Jan-Erik. I’m form the Netherlands and besides my TVR Griffith 500 (that's why my nickname is Griffer500) I have also a TVR 3000M.
In this car (M3000) I want to change the Essex for a FORD V6 Cosworth BOB engine.
I can buy for little money a Ford MT75 manual V6 gearbox including the driveshaft, flywheel and pressure plate.
Question: will this gearbox fit on a BOB engine?
ECU will be a DTA or VEMS.

Hello Pete, This is the answer I received from PH.

The MT75 won't be a direct fit to the BOB engine without some work. You'll need a "hybrid" MT75 which consists of the bellhousing from a 4wd MT75 and the rest of the box from a 2wd MT75 (or possibly vice versa). Probably best to google for the "fordpower" forum, as the people there have listed all of the information needed to do this, and there's also plenty of advice on the BOB engine too.

From memory, I think that there are a couple of different ratio gearsets within an MT75, depending on the donor vehicle involved. The fordpower forum can suggest which donor/ gearbox version to go for, or which to avoid.

The answer from PH is more targeted to the UK members. In the Netherlands 2 wheel drive is more common while in the UK 4x4 is more common and 2wd is very rare.

The mt75 v6 will fit the BOB engine. You will need to modify the gearbox mount and the drive shaft.

The rear end ratio can differ, but there are 2, mt75 v6 gearbox ratio's.

MT75 (2.0 DOHC and 2.4 V6)

1st 3.890
2nd 2.082
3rd 1.342
4th 1
5th 0.822

MT75 (2.9 V6, 2.5 diesel AND 2.0 4x4)

1st 3.608
2nd 2.084
3rd 1.363
4th 1
5th 0.829

Herewith a couple of Griffith pictures.

First the car.

The rebuild engine with aprox. 345 BHP.

The first start after rebuild. 20 minutes revving the engine between 2500 and 3000 rpm.
