« on: April 22, 2013, 22:22:21 PM »
Hi Friends
Yep,now i must say little intake mod is done, but still looks original ,E85 Fuel.

-3000 rpm 330nm 0.26 bar
-5600 rpm 580nm 0.91 bar
-5900 rpm 476hv  0.99 bar

I use good bench...some other could show +500Hv...

Good work!
What changes was made to the plenum and do you have a dyno plot for the 476BHP run? A movie clip maybe?

E85 makes really good HP from std. It's like running on race fuel, and will give you around 10-15% power increase.

My 2.9er 12v did 535BHP at 1.45bar so a similar boost on that engine should be 1.25bar which is very good out of a std machine!

Good result Timppa24V  ;D

I think your old intake had some minor mods to reach around 400 hv it was I think?

So these more major mods has resulted in about a 70 bhp gain!

Great results & it just shows how the STD BOA inlet holds the engine back.

Hmm...E85 is less effective...

E85/Alcohol has a lower stoichiometric fuel ratio and lower heating value and therefor you can say that it is less effective, but in fact you will gain power. Alcohol fuels reach their peak torque a bit more quickly than gasoline does and the power increase will be up to 20% in some cases.

A friend of mine have done a test where he run a 29er 12v on 98 octane petrol and got 406WHP @ 1.35 bar and on E85 it gave 454whp @ 1.35 bar. Only changes were the fuel and mapping of the fuel.
That's an 12% increase of power right off with just changing the fuel. 4-valve engines is to be a bit more effective and should give a bit more % added.

I would say that the BOA you run would not get more than 410 - 425 BHP on the same boost on 98 octane petrol.

So, what is done to the Plenum?

Runners are shortened.

Maybe your friends 12v couldnt use enough ignition advance with 98 fuel...

My own test result were 403hv 0,8bar with 99 shell v-power,and with E85 375 hv ,and yes engine is mapped to both fuels, played many years with my WIRELESS  ;D megasquirt.

Ah, interesting. I thought the limits is in the octopus plenum, but thats maybe what you mean?

Very strange. Every engine we tried this gave 10-15% increase in power, yours should not be the opposite. My friend did nothing to change the ignition, but it was first optimized on 98 octane so ignition was at a maximum for petrol before knocking.

If you can, please add the Dyno chart! Interesting plots with a supercharger!

I should imagine Timppa has created a chamber in the middle which has cut the runners in half.

Air goes through throttle straight into the new middle chamber then fed to cylinders removing both restrictions.

Very clever, simple & effective as the results show.
