That happend on one of by twink 4b's..

Had to limp it home in 3rd.

Didn't like not having a rev counter, and aftermarket ones look crap if they dont match the rest of your dials, so as my cortina didnt have the rev counter dash i selected a tatty one and took it all to bits along with the cossie granny one.

heres the cortina one out of the dash

and heres the grannys one

luckily the hole in the needle is the same diameter for both cars, and they just pull off the spindle

This is the 24v one without the front on it

this is all i needed off the back of the cortina one, its the bit that clamps to the face from the back

i drilled a couple of holes in it, made up some spacers and screwed the 24v rec counter onto the cortinas bracket.

I pondered how i was gonna fit it to the back of the cortina dash for a while then just decided to use a couple of dobs of hot glue, as its easy enough to pull off again if i wanna get it out, seems to work fine and you cant tell from the front.

i did video it working but i cant find me phone lead!

Fitted me new front springs today, not much difference in overall length.

but it sits much better now.

before

after

rides steers and stops much better now its not on soggy springs and it stops mych straighter now it dont hit the bumpstops, overall worth the aggro. :D

Watch The long good friday...(classsic imo) a fela pulls up hard in a tina on the keyside next to bobs yact(boat  ) just after the IRA blow his roller up. Watch how it stops lol. the wheels stop dead, the car carries on another foot, then springs back to where the wheels stopped lol I roared when i saw it recently cos cars don't do that these days...apart from the likes of mine an yours

Looks good

did the top shock bolt come undone or did you cut it ?

popuptoaster

Me clutch pedal hit the floor and stayed there this morning as i was on me way over to pick my daughter up, annoyingly just before i had to negotiate the gallows corner roundabout (if your local you'll know how much of a pain that could have been! lol) anyway, did some old school clutchless changes, picked my daughter up and got back home.

Home brew cars need time to settle in and problems are expected, looks like the only clutch cable that was the right length has a nipple (ooer!) thats slightly to small for the clutch fork and had pulled through it, at least it hadnt broken so i didnt have to thread a new one through.

2 mins with one of these,

and one of these,

had one of these made up,

which fitted on here,

and cured the problem. :D

half hour tops, love it when a fix is that simple. :D

tiff

sweet. wish I had that sort of luck!

Martyn theres a bit missing there, thats why it came through the clutch arm, theres a rubber coated metal sleeve that fits in the clutch arm and holds the cable, cant think how that came out though

Mind you your repairs prob better then it

Gave a mate a lift to yorkshire and back yesterday, car did 30.2mpg which included some tear arseing around the hills (mountains?) killed the diff on the way back though, its making some very strange noises and making the car hop about on tight corners, time to replace the axle, didnt think the 1600 one would last long.

bloody satnav considered this a sensible route for a lowered cortina on stiff suspension, it got worse after this but i couldnt get out cos the sides were to close to open the doors!

yorkshire ripper

ahhhh thought it was you i saw going up the other side of the motorway. your car stood out amongst the usual rep mobile's.
