Yesterday I broke again another 2.0 dohc 8v turbo engine @ 1 bar with 255bhp and 338Nm. So I'm looking for a more reliable engine and more powerful/torquey. I didn't have any power bellow 3500 rpm with 2RM cosworth T3 garrett turbo.
I've four options:
forged 2.0 DOHC 8vPROS:
- I've exhaust manifold, injectors and forged conrods without use in house.
- No more problems than now in Spanish "MOT"
CONTRAS:
- less powered engine
forged 2.0 + 2.0 16v scorpio head:PROS:
more powerful than now
CONTRAS:
I would need new exhaust manifold and injectors.
In the 2.0 engine I would need to install a better turbo with lower rpm spool, or a VGT or turbo + compressor
2.9 24v BOB + turboPROS:
-I've one in house, so less cost.Anyway, I could sold it if I decide to go with another engine.
-I like electronics so this engine is more fun in this way, more wires haha
-More fuel efficient than the 2.9 12v
CONTRAS:
-Not cheap engine rebuild, expensive chain guides
2.9 12v from scorpio. There is one in my town scrapyard with manual MT75 V6 RWD which is good and I will buy.
PROS:
- cheaper to rebuild compared with the bob
- only 1 camshaft, and cheap kentcams
CONTRAS:
- less efficient and probably I would need more turbo pressure to have same power as the BOB?
(It has lambdas, so is one of the lastests 2.9?)
CONS of V6:
- weight
- less space
I want more than 300 bhp. I know than BOB @ 0,6 bar is reliable and gives more than 300bhp. But I also read on this forum that many people preferes the 12v.
In future I would like to install 4x4, so 6 cyl is better, more torque in low rpm
I'd like to install a 2JZ or RB26DETT but in spain is near impossible to legalize
