2 Days ago my starter on the Mk2 packed up. :'(

I had the starter especially built as the steering column was fouling the relay.

I've moved the steering rack a bit since I first fitted the V6, so I might be able to put on a normal starter.

However there seem to be 2 or 3 types of starter.

There is a 1.1 kW one and 2 1.4kW ones.

I want a 1.4 kW one but the parts suplier doesn't know which one it is.

I'm I right in thinking the 4x4 starter is shorter as the drive shaft interferes with the starter otherwise?

I never had a standard starter fitted so I don't know.

Does anybody have the original partnumber for a 2.9 4x4 starter? (I can't look it up as Microcat expired)

I found these numbers for the 1.1 kw with 9 teeths: 88BB11000BA - 91GB11000AA-91GB11000AB-  91BB11000KA - 91BX 11000KA - R88BX11000BA

2.9 Xr4x4's only have 1.4KW starters fitted.

When Microcat expires just reset your date to say the year before, make sure auto update is off & re-boot.

It should now work.
