Said that the paintjob is a mess. Painting is the easy part (and he did not do that very well) its the prep work that takes the most skill.

Sadly, i have got the same experience with sending a car to "professional" painters. Its very difficult to find a trustwordy painter that does a good job.

I do all my own prep and small paint work. Saves me alot of money and if its wrong, i know how to blame.

Tis why I do all my own painting , that & it's peanuts cost wise D.I.Y.

It's hard work to put painter mistakes right. You should punch that so called mate!

I'm very sorry for your paint job, I suffered a lot myself for only a few imperfections on my car.

I would get to his shop and simply take my spoiler back if visible, rather than spend another 500 quids  . Or pay one of his employees to take it out for you  , should be cheaper than a new one.

Yeah, paint job is a real let down, sadly he doesn't have any employees, just a one man band.
I've a feeling he won't get much more work up here now..........

Isle of Skye is a very small community, and there are so many Rally Club mukkas and peeps following the build in the N/W Highlands that this monumental cock up is well known now.

I've a feeling that what goes around comes around.

If this were a road car I'd have been a lot lot more angry but as it stands I'll run it for a year or so and get it done properly once it's gettng a bit battered

The plus poin is I'll be driving it faster down he forest tracs 'cos I won't be so concerned about damaging it.
The rest of it is coming together nicely now, although it is taking 3 times longer as I'm cleaning up all the overspray and mess as I go.

Wish I'd done it myself now, I could have done it better with my eyes shut

Suspension is coming along nicely, although needing a few mods to get it all working properly, but that's what will make all the difference to the stage times :)
Huge travel and wheel articulation for the rough stuff

Spent 5 hours today cleaning overspray, polish and general painter shite from NSR  corner under wheelarch. also found he's burnt through the finish on one of the ally wheels with the polisher   
Had to remoe caliper clean up disc, re paint caliper and lower arm and touch up paint on rear beam, plus get overspray off ally fuel tank, really not funny, I'm gonna have to sort the twat one way or another
