Hi guys, name is Bill,
I was born in the UK in the North East and now I live in Calgary Canada.
While in the UK I owned 2 Modified Ford Anglias, Escort 1300GT, Cortina 1600E and an Escort RS1600. (I wish I still had this car).
I now own a 1986 Merkur XR4Ti, which I use on the street, at Auto X and some track events. As some of you no, the XR in North America has the 2.3L Ford SOHC 8V Turbo engine. Its a good strong engine and can be extensively modified to obtain big HP.
Just to be different I guess, and maybe trying to look like a Cossie, I have installed the 2.3L Ford block in the XR with a Volvo 16V DOHC alloy head. There was lots of fabbing to do, to get all the bits in and working together. Ive just recently started it up and have only driven it a couple of blocks. I have also installed the MS2 ECM. The weather here at the moment is not cooperating and its tough to get the car out on the road just now, (damn snow).

It has a slight ticking sound to it, which I believe to be a sticky lifter as I just used the old ones.
I am also on the Haynes forum and one of the members asked if I would post the vid on this forum as there has been some discussion regarding this project.

The Volvo head jobby was done over a number of years, I dont always have a lot of time as the wifes projects comes first.
Its got all of the Cossie external bits and bobs on it. Makes it look nice. One day it will all be one colour.
