What pressure rating do I need? I have an uprated capri 2.8 rad, with thicker core and a Davies Craig electric waterpump... does that affect it?

do you have the old one? most radiator caps are marked with the pressure.

if i am correct, the 2.8 i uses a 16 lbs cap. you could send him a mail to be sure.

It refers to the pressure at which it will release, yes? ...to prevent the system bursting elswhere if the coolant overheats? like an emergency pressure releif valve? if so I would prefer a lower rating I think... I will check and see what the old cap has written on it, if its still on my standard radiator - I don't remember removing it  thanks Paul

the pressure should be 1.1 bar (16 lbs) for the cap on the expansion tank. the cap on the radiator does not open (has no spring)

you dont want to go lower with the 2.8i

13 lbs is used for the 1.3 to 2.3 engines without a expansion tank.
