Big head needed......

Has anyone got an old knackered cylinder head knocking about. Needs to have big valves, 40mm ish. Something along the lines of an old V8 or truck head. Doesn't matter how badly damaged as long as one cylinder has valves. For a gas flow testing exercise at uni.

Would prefer close to Derby and close to free too

Tom, I can lend you a section from a rover v8 head ie just one cylinder.  I'll have to see if I've got a pair of valves. Or if you need bigger I can lend you a chevy lsx head  If smaller I'll have a 24v head you can borrow.  How long do you want them?

The LS head would be ideal. Would need it for about 2 weeks if thats ok?

Ok, you can have either ls1, ls6 or ls7. The ls7 is a cnc machined head as standard with Ti valves. This will be the best head for flow.  Inlets are over 2". Drop me a line when ready.

What if you had a STD 24V head & a maxed out fully ported big valve head to compare results.

Thanks again, Mike! I've spoken to the lecturer and he says it's preffereable to choose the worst flowing head out of the LS series. That way suggestions can be made on the available options to improve the flow. I'll drop you a line tomorrow hopefully. I may have to fill in as a student rep for a lunch appointment and got to nip to visit at the hospital, but should have a couple of hours free at some time during the day.

By the way, we had a quick look at your manifolds you supplied me today.....

I'd be really interested in doing this, Dave, especially as 24v's are something that I am messing about with a lot. Unfortunately your a fair trek away and a 40mm ish (accuracy out the window     ) valve, head has been asked for in this assignment brief, however i'm going to be doing advanced fluid mechanics as one of my 3rd year top up options for the Beng course, so if the offers still there at the time, i'd gladly snap your hand off then

Head is 34mm inlet & 34mm out.

Tom all the ls heads flow well. I think they outflow the 4 valve heads used on some earlier chevy's.  The one which flows the least will be the ls1 because it's smaller but I can supply you with a scrap ls7 head so you can port it if you want. It's scrap   Ls7 heads look like these:

Tell your lecturer they flow the worst, lol.

Flowing Daves head would be really useful for those with 24v engines.  It's had lots of work done to it but I appreciate you can't do everything.

tom them adaptor flange thingys say (they highly reccomend proffesional fitting) (i dont mind test fitting them on mine if ya want lol)
