Gengis with his new twin turbo 12V 2.9 build pulled 460bhp & 460lbs on an amazing 20psi on Tuesday.

This is as far as I know currently the most powerful 2.9 12V in Europe with a dyno sheet.

Yes I know there is some 500bhp+ 4.0L's but we are talking 2.9 here

20 is only about 1 and a half bar init so that is amazing. What revs were thos maximums at? ...would LOVE to have heard it. video?

Yeah tis the such low boost which is shocking.

Means in N/A form the engine has gota be making about 190bhp.

well after seeing it in the flesh at ford fair its a nice build,and congrats to all involved but especialy genghis for having the balls to try it,I looked at the rolling road graph but it looks like it needs a small supercharger with a dis-engage clutch to go with those big turbo's to gain some low and mid range power,but i bet it goes like stink after 4600rpm.but he has proven that the old 12v can make good horsepower at the top end and we both certainly showed up alot of cosworth owners at the ford fair sprints.

This is it, it does show the old 12V can make HP.

Kind of re-writes the rule book for it actually.

Simons engine is built for 25psi & 8000rpm.

He has not even pushed it yet to max it out.

Yes turbo's are big but to be able to hit the targets they need to be.

Thing is 400-450bhp was thought to be at 25psi so it's capable of alot more as it hit 460 @ 20psi!

Oh crap just heard a 2.9 12V in Sweden just hit 464bhp & 486lbs on the rollers @ 19psi

They use e85 over there which I think is 104 RON?  Do you know which it was using?

with e85 the guy in sweden has a big advantage. its indeed 104 ron, so he can put the timing earlyer than haggis can on 98. the result is more power.

No it's on normal fuel with a GT40 turbo & mega squirt.

It ran a 11.99 quarter when it was 400bhp I think.

It's a Capri.

There is a guy in Norway that claimed 460bhp & 700NM for a 2.8.

However engine long since died & never any real proof of them figures.

That 2.9 engine is a completly stock engine except from ported heads and a different cam. The engine run stock CR. The guy just changes the bottom end when it blows, I think he have wasted 2 of them so far, and now he is looking into how to build something that will last, on a budget ofcourse..... Shame he didn't go for a BOB instead.......

Lowering his compression would help it last a bit longer. The rest could stay as it is then.

This is why I didn't want to talk about his spec as it is basically stock.

I wouldn't want anyone to copy it unless you want to rebuild engines every other week.


But fair play amazing results

No YB has ever got near that on that boost!

Well he used to claim it was normal everyday 95ron but would have thought he must now run super unleaded at least now
