the dutch people voted against europe, in a referendum, a couple off years back.

the second time the goverment just chanced the name, but never gave the people a referendum to vote yes or no.

they are afraid to keep a referendum again, because they know that we will vote against it again.

they dont listen to the people no more. they all have there own agenda.

a small example, the smoking ban. most people are against it, in a recent poll (5000 people questioned), 70% off the non smoker and 89% off the smokers where against it. the pub holders are 99% against it. even whit pubs going bankrupet thanks to the smokingban (just take a look in the pubs in the UK.) , but still the ban is in effect. the minister is asked to reconcider the law and lift the ban, but o no. that would mean a defeat and a lose, and he cant stand losing his face, so he is doing everthing to keep the ban.

Wasn't the plan to build a large European economy,to avoid being dependent on American investment?

if you want to build a large European economy, than you should start with equal tax across europe, equal law's, equal right and dutys, ect. this is still not the case. every country has its own tax, law's, rights and dutys and are not planing to give that up.

I think the recent debacle with the UK MP's expensise sums it all up, (£93,000,000), claimed overall on top of a salary of around £65,000, only 56 MP's didn't claim a second house allowance. You can bet your danglies that the EU bunch are as bad or most likely worse. They are in general only in it for what they can squeeze out for them selves, so as for getting a referendum, no chance! they might have to give up there milch cow, or in simple terms yours and mine's taxes. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Ray
