Well he doesn't mention an engine coversion and it's an early mk2, plus he say's 2.8. So my guess it's a 2.8 12valve.

Why not ask him m8?? all 24v were 2.9

Sorry, thats what i meant...
I asked and the seller is adament it's a 2.8 24v...
I asked for a photo and they got arsey saying i was trying to tell them about there own car...
They reckon the engine fitted was fitted to mk1 Capri's, Transit's and a new Mondeo...  
The only 2.8 24v I know of is the one fitted to the Ford Galaxy (VW Sharon and Golf)...
Anyone ever heard of a Galaxy engine in a Sierra...? Think theres 170 bhp and 204 bhp variants... Unsure though...

Although personally if i'd of won bidding gone to collect/pay popped bonnet seen a 2.8 12v i'd of closed the bonnet and walked away and not even bothered saying anything to them, maybe just shook my head whilst walking past...
