MOT question

getting there with the capri...

got the engine running now but its rubbish...it wont accelarate at all and just stumbles above
2000 rpm...but it is not mapped yet...

quick question...
the car will drive along the road ok but you cant really go above 20 mph as it start to
play up...it will idle fine...

will this pass it MOT ok??...assuming the emmsions are fine...

does the car need to rev smoothly and drive well to pass...im 99% sure the only thing
they care about is the emmsions...they dont actually drive it??

gonna try and get it running better myself but dont wanna be driving it around at all until its MOTed and ive sorted the insurance out...then i can take it to a quite long road and start to play with the map...just need my MOT!!


any thoughts??

as long as they dont take it out for a brake test.but would have thought it would be ok.

well they should take it out...as it has an LSD...but they never have in the past...i know the brake test at the center can damage the LSD...but the very abusive way i drive and 300 BHP from the supercharger will do more!!...

Why might the brake test damage the diff?

Will only damage it if done for a long period of time.

I think it all comes down to how well you get on with your tester.

don't forget the fast idle test between 2500-3000rpm. If the tester can't get a result it's a fail

Fast idle test wont apply to a capri mate, only on vehicles from 93 on as thats part of the cat test.

Emmision test on any capri will only be done with the car at idle.

Even if your car will only do 20mph its fast enough to carry out the brake test out on the road if the tester wont do it on the brake rollers in the testing station.

Have tested a few capri's that were fitted with LSD's and had no problems on the rollers as its only done for a very short period of time.
