Project 24v Cortina is back on!

After a period where I thought I was going to have to scrap my plans to build a stripped out 24v Mk3 Cortina, I think I have worked out a way to carry on with it  

To recap, the engine is going to be a (standard at first) BOA lump mated to a Type 9 gearbox using V6 bellhousing a 2.8 Capper flywheel and clutch.  As I need to get the car running as soon as possible, I am going to keep the standard 1.6 Cortina rear end (I have a 3.44 axle awaiting rebuild).

I need to get the car running (and ideally MOT'd) as soon as possbile and as cheaply as possible... but I want the car to be safe and will spend money where it needs it.  These leads on to the first of a few questions...

1  Brakes - I thought of going the Granny or Princess callipers/Capri disks route but, for the cost of the callipers, I'm wondering if I might be able to get a new kit from somewhere.  The cheapest I saw on Burtons was just over £300... is there anywhere cheaper?

2 Suspension - can anyone recommend which springs and shocks I should use at the front?  I'm looking for a ride height just slightly lower than standard (too many spped bumps!)

3 Electrics - I was going to have a crack at this myself with zero experience... am I mad!?!  (I only want minimal gauges and have removed EVERYTHING else!)

if you want it cheap, go for the scorpio brakes, they are more powerfull than the old setup.

Thanks for your reply.  Do you know if the Scorpio brakes will fit straight onto a Cortina hub without any machining?

i made a bracket for my setup. only machining i did was turn down the hubs, so the disk would fit.

someone whit a lathe can do that.
