Hi all! I“m new here, my name is Diego and i have 90“ 3 door mk2 Sierra. At the moment i“m looking for different engine posibilities to swap it but i“m confused about wich one finally use.

One of them is the escort“s RS2000 16v 150 bhp and the other one is 24v cosworth.

I found a bit information about these engines but i haven“t got information about the weights of each one (to know later weight distribution)....feelings about torke, wich one is harder and keep its components better along the time...

The setup of suspension is for drifting use, so it will work more at high rpm

Definitely don“t want to use YB 16v Cosworth....I think it“s too expensive to get at the moment, and prefer NA instead of turbo...

How much are 24v cosworth and RS2000? Would 16v be a bit poor to get "cheap" updates to get 190-200hp?

What do you suggest?

Thanks a lot people!!

Diego

if you want 200hp, go for the 24v cossy, thats the cheapest way.

24v is my vote too... :-D

My theory...

Cheaper...
More weight on front wheels...
More bangs per bucks...

Although i may simply be stupid... :-D

Thanks a lot for the replys people, I get some more information that helped me to decide to use 24v engine. To 200 hp or more, though the 2.3 16v cosworth and RS2000 2.0 16v are good engines....I think do not get 200 hp so easily, and less than that hp to race track use only....at least If it was a mk1 or mk2 escort on its 900 kg car...would be nice...but 200 +hp and good torque...better.

Anyone has tutorials, information, works, documents, service manuals for 24 v cosworth? Where can i find information?

Thanks a lot again

Diego

I`m sure Tony has driven a turbo (might have been supercharged, cant for the life of me remember now) I4 8valve powered sierra. He said it was rather lively to drive  .  The 2.3 galaxy/scorpio bottom end conversion is also an option........but because there is hardly any companies that do bolt-on performace parts for the 8v and 16v I4 lumps either one will cost you in the long run getting bits. I`m sure there was a mk5 escort featured back afew years ago running a 2.3 lump + throttle bodies and omex ecu, think that made over 200 but I`ve read that theres alot of machining involved in those 2.3 conversions.

You`d be better off going the 24v cossie route........will be cheaper and less hassle, theres loads of info available on here to help you out.
