I'm about to buy a complete set of Recaros for my scorpio, but the seller (located in UK) won't ship them overseas, even though I've offered to pay the extra costs involved.
any of you fellow scorpio nutters (  ) bighearted enough to help me?

Count

Anyone...? I was thinking of wrapping it up in something and fixing it on a pallet.

Dave

1st where abouts are you?

2nd do you realise how much it will cost, two seats will probably have to go on two pallets.
Depending on the dimensions.

I live in Norway. The land of no broken 24v's exist..
I had a Stainless Steel-exhaust shipped over from the UK and it cost me around 100 pounds in shipping.
Since the parts basically don't exist here in Norway I don't have much of a choice.

If they're "packed" smart I bet they could go on one pallet. the recaros next to eachother and the rear seat across the fronts.

the seats are located nead Upminster, off the M25, I think...

Dave

Speak to Frode of BR Racing.

He is due to pick-up a van load of stuff from me soon, so maybe ship to me then Frode will ship to Norway.

Norway is expensive for shipping

Just sms'ed him. His van was crammed full, no more room. and he said his trip got postponed.
I couldn't bother you with the task...? I'll of course compensate you for it.

Dave

I don't plan going near London for abit so you would have to get them shipped to me.

Tell Frode you will pay him, sure he can find some space

It's not money mate but time I need, it takes time to sort stuff like this out.

Frode is your best bet.

Well, he wouldn't do it.. anyone else?

Mikey J

I can do it. I've sent stuff to norway and sweden before.  Get the seller to send them here and I'll then get a costing to forward them to you.

Mike.

Dave

Yeah Mike has more spare time than me
Dave

Count

excellent! thanks mike, you're a lifesaver.

NorwayNick

thats what i like to see, guys willing to help out. Good on ya Mike

I think I have to chime in on this, too.

When shopping around world wide, helpful people, like Mike here, are invaluable!
He helped me out with collecting and shipping an engine once and deserved every penny of his modest fee!
(modest compared to the time and work involved) I threw in some extra cash to support his goodwill and expect others not to be cheap when asking for favours.

If anyone need help with shipping from Norway, Bergen area, to wherever, I'm willing to assist.

well.. here goes again.. the last time the seller just stopped answering my emails, so I guess he just got tired of me.
Found another set now, which also is collection only, so the question arises again:
anyone in the london-ish area which is interested in making a few extra money?

KIB

YouÃ,,Ã,,žÃ,re a week to late mate!!
Just got my new engine home this week. It was sent from London area to Norway. IÃ,,Ã,,žÃ,m sure we could have arranged something with the seller and the shipping companyÃ,,æ. Sorry

DonÃ,,Ã,,žÃ,t know why some people just donÃ,,Ã,,žÃ,t want to send their stuff? The buyer takes all the risk when paying in advance. And if you want to sell stuff and got a buyer, a little effort from the seller wouldnÃ,,Ã,,žÃ,t be asking too muchÃ,,æ laziness I guess??

Or could it be something special with us Norwegians?   Several times on eBay the sellers are willing to send to all over Europe except Norway..

It's nothing to do with Norwegians.  I've sent a few parcels that way as well as to SE where I have a good friend   Sometimes people ask about the EU, is Norway a member of the EU?

...is Norway a member of the EU?
No.

Dave

Everyone is rich in Norway

One of the most expensive places I have ever been

To send a parcel to Sweden is like half the cost of Norway & Norway is closer

The shipping is already taken care of. I just need someone to physically show up at the breakers and mess around with a pallet and stuff..
Then the shipper will come and pick the lot up..

Hmm... The guy who sold you your engine seemed like he was serviceminded..?  and a londoner as well...!

Well we might have (earn) a lot of money, but we really need them to be able to pay all the ridiculous high prices and ALL the stupid taxes!!
So the correct statement would bee that Norway as a country have a lot of money, but the people who lives there are almost choking of all the taxes!

Norway is not in the EU and thatÃ,,Ã,,žÃ,s a part off the reason why the shipping cots are so high. ThereÃ,,Ã,,žÃ,s a lot more paperwork included for the shipping company. Not only the high shipping cost, but when the goods arrive in Norway we are supposed to pay 24% tax...
This last tax we try to avoid as much as possible, there are some ways to avoid or reduce this... but not always..

Yes he was service minded... But IÃ,,Ã,,žÃ,m not sure he can help you, got the impression he was quite busy. If no one else volunteers maybe I can send him a mail...

That's right.. We have higher wages, but since everything is priced so extremely high you're back to square one.
another reason we guys shop so much abroad is that the prices of new cars here in norway are so ridiculously high, that it's cheaper to fix up old cars and buy secondhand parts.
This in turn pushes the prices from breaker's yards skyhigh..
So it's actually cheaper (half the price in fact!!) to buy a BOA from the UK and get it shipped to norway.
That's just insane...

coco: The interior I'm looking for is the halfleather Recaro interior (Think it's part of te partial Raven pack) from the bugeyed Scorpio. But thanks for the offer.

Dave

I know guys.

Not everything is expensive but the look on my face when I had to pay almost 15 pound for a coffee & a half foot bagette was priceless so my wife tells me

I have been round the world & I really mean it when I say that Norway is the most beautiful place for mile after mile I have ever seen. Simply amazing.

Your very lucky but I guess it costs
Dave

Count

It sure does... But it's a good thing we build over the top cars to enjoy our beautiful scenery at least! :D

Not having any luck sorting out the picking-up-issue now though... Is there really noone from london in here?

Doughnutter
