DO i need a filter/moisture separator?

the schutz gun i just bought said so but is it realy needed? if it is then i can't get on with anything for days until it arrives and i figure out how to connect it! the humidity in my garage is like 29% and if I make sure the tank hasn't got any condensate in it will it be o.k for shooting stoneguard?

You can actually buy, (for not a lot of money), a water trap that you can fix onto your spray gun. I have one on mine and it works just fine. try your local paint suplier, they should have one. Hope that helps, Ray

Its a good idea to have a water trap inline after the compressor regardless of what you're shooting. I have one with a built in pressure regulator. Water has a habit of sitting in airlines, espesially if you run low pressures. Even with this though, I've had water bleed through when the humidity has been high. Any moisture is a bad thing. The more you can do to stop it , the better.

When I spray I have 3 water traps running in a row but in the right conditions water still manages to squirt out of my gun at the worst possible moment  

Really are a must as alot of air tools & joiners etc will rust away from the inside out.

They are not 100% so still strip stuff & clean oil it etc.

& say a short prayer before spraying espically if it's hot weather.

I drained the compressors tank at the bottom and half a cup of water was in there  should be better without that  

Your right tho dave - I ruined a blasting gun in one day with an 80cfm diesel compressor i hired. water was spluttering through it all day and it wore the gun clean away...bit like a water jet cutter i spose
