How much do 2.8s wobble/move?

Can you fit thinner, harder rubbers and a spacer on the engine mounts to restrict motion?

Cant really say how much movement they have but harder mounts will reduce the movement.......although like I`ve just found out on my xr2i last week when I put some uprated gearbox mounts on (to stop the engine from rocking and hitting the strut brace) The harder the mounts the less they absorb vibrations. I`ve had to go back to some O.E. mounts from a diesel as they`re abit harder than standard fiesta ones because EVERYTHING in the car vibrated on idle, was horrible to drive as well, really jerky.  

If you swap to some uprated ones its worth doing abit of research into what mounts are available and try to speak to someone those has those uprated mounts mate.

  noted.... I just looked at the alternator, and its closer to the metalwork than my turbo is    if that hasn't been smaking the turbo should be fine and dandy - however the proof will be when i run it and if i need stiffer mounts I'll see whats available first - CHEERS BUD

you could always try a small shock absorber on one side just to null it a bit like on the mk1-2 mini and the other small bl cars 1100, maxi ect

...and most large bmw - I was actualy thinking of that as another soluution myself as it goes  but i think it'll be fine anyway - i think now half inch is plenty space - I was surprised to see how close the alternator was to the body
