I have been trying to tax my car,, dvla keep insisting i am not insured, now this can be sorted by going to the post office with the mot and insurance,,,right????
whats up with this??

well imagine, a police car can check insurance on cars via ether radio or on board computer, so apart from the pain of being pulled over, nothing you might think,
but
its also a good reason to look closely at your car and find other things, also in this day and age you could even be acused of fraud.
Last July, an insurance broker highlighted the plight of private motorists who had been unfairly accused of being uninsured because their motor insurers had failed to update the industry's Motor Insurance Database (MID). In some cases, vehicles had been confiscated by the police despite the fact that the vehicles were being used legally.

punch in ya regestration number and it will let you know if the data base is correct
(mine isnt, does this mean the insurance co are on the fiddle? or just an error? who knows
but for your own good, check ya on it...
THIS IS NOT FOR YOU TO CHECK CARS YOU DO NOT OWN,, but after a crash im sure i would be tempted to check the other car!!

I use that all the time, i have a trade policy and the broker doesn't always update the policy with the details i email through, Crap when you have to do their job for them like.

lol i have experienced this twice down aldershot.had to spend half hour each time at the road side trying to convince the old bill.never worked but when they got throgh to my ins company all was well.

My estate is on there but my 4be isn't.  That would explain why I couldn't tax it online.  Best get onto my insurers ASAP.

Handy link to have, apparantly, my Sierra which was written off last month is still insured  . I`ve told my insurance company too...

I had the same problem when I tried to tax my bike on-line, just came back saying no insurance so I called my broker and they told me that I was defiantly insured but some smaller insurance companyÃ,,Ã,,žÃ,s are not part of the national insurers database so they sometimes donÃ,,Ã,,žÃ,t upload your details as its not done automatically for them

well i found my xr4i is NOT insured,,, turnes out the insurance co, didnt enter the correct reg,,,'i cheched a reg with an N in place of the M, sure enough,, it comes up xr4i,,, but in checking else where, the reg is for an austin mini

Well, it`s strange something like that can even happen.

We can check if our cars are insured also online, at www.rdw.nl.
They even list when the next MOT is due  

But isn`t it strange that in the UK a car is only insured when the driver is registered to the vehicle?

I mean, my car is insured and anyone who drives it is insured including up to 4 passengers.
It doesn`t matter who drives it, just as long as the insurance papers are in the car.
