New 4x4 Tax

Does the new 4x4 tax that the chancellor just announced affect the Sierra 4x4's or do they limit yet one more tax only on SUVs?

Generally the rues only apply to much newer cars, can't remember the cutoff year, but you won't find any Sierras that new!!

It's a misconception that it's a 4x4 tax that the media perpetrates. It's aimed at any high emission car and with 4x4 cars generally having poor economy their emissions per mile are high.

fiat panda 4x4's for example tend to be fine where as a honda C-RV i think it is can be FWD but will have a higher tax on it because it's heavy and slow and makes lots of CO2.

The cut-off is cars from 1st March 2001 ( Y reg ) and newer. Which takes the p1$$ as they had a good set-up for March '01 to March '06 cars which only paid £210. So from April 2009 the road tax for my Mondy ST200 is gonna go up to £415 - second highest band, yay

Don't forget the resultant drop in it's resale value too. High tax band cars are going to be worth sweet FA as they get older.
