E85, about bloody time

I dunno about the UK but there are E85 pumps opening up all over France (except round my way      )
Average price at the momment is Ã,€€Ã,0.82 a litre (about 55p in GBP)    95RON is approx Ã,€€Ã,1.37 a litre here at the mo (about 94p GBP)

That a saving of approx 40%          
and to top it off a power increase of approx 5-7%

Some fuel lines arn't upto the job, thats really about it.
I used ethanol quite alot in the 8V last year and it worked great
I don't belive in 25% less MPG

I don't know about a 25% loss in fuel economy, but I certainly don't get anywhere near as much on 10% ethanol as I did on 100% petrol....    So I imagine that 85% would be even worse....

as far as i know from the u.s people, that converd there v8's to e85, it was not easy to do and had alot off problems (rubber parts, like the fuel lines and carb parts, that desolve, water in the fuel, getting the right air/fuel ratio and the fuel consumption went up and the hp down on n/a engines, the plus site is thats its cheaper to run than normal fuel ones the engine and the fuel system is setup for e85. but not that much if you calulated how much e85 and normal 95 ron fuel is needed to drive the the same car, the same engine whit the same output, a 1000 mile. if i than ad the conversion cost for e85, well, that 40% is more like 10%/15% saving, thanks to the higher fuel consumption.

if you want to drive cheap, lpg is still the cheapest fuel for your car whit 0.58 euro cent, and whit a good lpg injection system, the power output and milage is almost the same as normale fuel. a lpg injection system like that cost arround 1500 to 2000 euro's installed. if you drive 10.000 km a year, it already earnt it self back. i drove my capri 24v on lpg, i loved it. even whit the v8 in it, its still cheaper to run for each mile, than a fiesta 1.3.

and there is a other concern, ones everyone is driving on e85, the goverment and fuel tax.

now they keep the tax low because only a few are using it and to promote it to the general public, but if everyone is using e85, i have a feeling that the tax on e85, and so the price for e85, goes up.
