Hello

Just came across your site while doing some looking about V6 engines. At Weslake we designed and made many engines for Ford inc V6 touring car engine 1st in class at Le Mans 1972. The Gurney Weslake V8 engine out right winner at Le Mans powering the GT40 the V12 engine used for F1 and by Gulf racing and the savage V6 Essex engine.

We still have loads of info if any one needs it and can still make many of the parts for these engines.

firstly welcome to fordpower!

i remember some of the work on the essex V6 engines, i  seem to rememebr a quad cam head used, i have looked for a set of these for years, i love the essex V6 and still would like to build another one.
but age and money seems to slow me down now.

any information on ford engines you would be willing to share would be more than welcome, many thanks

Most of the Essex works engines were cosworth the Weslake ones being cologne although I think some Essex might have been made. We did however make the Savage engine for Jeff for the Savage cortina

Yep you did and he's an old piccy of mine taken at the Street Machines Lazy Sunday at Hickstead  
Twas a few years/Cars ago but i remember her fondly.
Also worth pointing out that it was also taken before we all had digi cameras so i Scanned the Photos

hhmmm
that must have been before cosworth bought out Brian Hart, i can only guess hart built the heads, not long ago a 24v 2.8 engine tuned up, you could see where cosworth machined the cam covers to remove the hart badges, then stuck cosworth over the top!!

this turned up but had cosworth stuck on the cam covers! (it was 2.8 based, it looked like the 2.9 plenum tho)
