Has anyone else seen the red minker prototype for sale on eBay?
For £17000

Mik

Doesn't much look like Gaz's engine to me.

cossiemk2

I don't know much about the 12v but isn't that a 2.8??
It's listed as a 2.9?

robrs2

Is it the only 2.8 one that was built?
Someone on PF was on about this a few weeks ago

Isaac005

I thought that about the engine and claimed power output when I read it and thought that can't be right!
It is a very nice car though and would make a very nice weekend toy!!!

JFB Tech

Yeah, it's Turbo Technics original development and press car for the Minker K1.  It has the full body kit but only has a 2.8 single turbo, same as it had originally.  Looks like the dealer is trying to pull a fast one by claiming it's a full Minker K1 with the 323 bhp twin turbo 2.9, either that or he's googled it and just copied what he found.  It is the car that Noel Edmonds drove on the Top Gear Motor Show special back in the day but I think they are dreaming with the price!

I sent him the following via ebay.

Just to let you know, this car was Turbo Technics early development and press car for the Minker K1.  It had the full K1 body kit but the engine was not the 323 bhp 2.9 V6 twin turbo..  It was fitted with the earlier 2.8 V6 single turbo, producing 200 bhp.  This car is well known in enthusiast circles and was on show at Ford Fair last Sunday.  Still a stunning example but really not what you are claiming.
Drive it like you mean it!

sierra3dr

Ah right,so it's the F18 with the dressing on...interesting

littlegems4x4

I sent pretty much the same message to him John, great minds think alike and all that!! ;D

Oh and since then he's changed the ad and then pulled it...........

Dave

How much!

Looks to be a nice restore & the body work probably cost a few grand but it's never worth that much.

But a car is worth what someone is willing to pay & all that so you never know  ;D

Anyway who ever wrote the add has no idea what a Minker is or what they have which is a shame.

It is a TT250 with the Minker body kit.

Car was used for testing the body kit & getting the down force right. Mainly at Bruntingthorpe test track.
It makes about 350 lbs of down force at 110mph.

It's got the electric Recaro front seats, them babies where £2200 back in the day.

I think that car may have the 3.14 diffs too.

Anyway at the end of the day the most important part of a Minker is the engine & that car has not got it.

It's simply a TT250 with the Minker K1 body kit & interior.

Did anyone ask for a picture of the plate on the fuse box?

i doubt its a 250 or an f18, the boost pipes go straight from turbo to inlet plenum and not through an intercooler.
didnt know the bodykit actually produced downforce, i thought it was all show.
a member on another forum posted about this car about 12 months ago saying he had aquired it and was going to restore it. the car was owned not far from me but when i asked to see it i recieved no reply.

Dave

I have talked to TT about that car before years ago.
It was Geoff & Pete who said it was a TT250. The two who worked on it.
However it was a long time ago so they could of got mixed up with one of the many other cars they did.

That's why I want to see the plate.

Even the 200's have an intercooler so if it has not got one it should have!

The MFI out from what I can see is not conected direct to the plenum feed.

It's not as a normal TT car I agree but then neither are other things on it so it could have a different cooler on it.

Yes the front bumper & espically the rear spoiler makes a lot of down force.
Anyone who has took an XR4x4 over 150mph will understand why  ;D
Dave

Isaac005

I see it has been listed on eBay again for the same price only
This time there is no description it just says for serious enquiries only phone! And then a number

littlegems4x4

Still listed as a 2.9 as well, even though it clearly isn't, and they know it isn't.........

Makes you wonder what he would tell you if you
Were to phone and ask about it as he now knows that it is not what
He was describing in the first place.
As we have all pointed out what the car really is.

Ha ha, fair point that. I had the black car showing 145 on the Autobahn a few years ago and that's probably more like 130.... it was very floaty at that, let alone 150

ford put rose joints in the rear arms to try and combat the poor handling at high speed in cosworth, still poor. like i said std sierra isnt nice above 120.

TwinTurbo

Minkers got compresion struts as well as ARB up front, and the bodykit helped stability.

And Mark Shead proved you can do over 200 in a sierra , 1 handed in a cardigan ;)

Dave

lol yeah a STD xr4x4 does get unstable around 120-130. But that is flat out for one of them.

Once you fit stiffer springs, lower it a bit, better shocks & poly bushes you should notice it's far more stable above 130.

They start to go again around 150, if you change the castor a bit to slow the steering down & put the rear ride height back to STD a xr4x4 is stable to 160 as that used to be my data logging cut off speed lol

Car is way to quick now to log it on the road flat out but I have hit a GPS 170+ a few times & it did start to feel the car was lifting again.

Geoff has the K1 spoiler & a similar front bumper on his track car & that hits 180+ with no problems but is very modified suspension wise too.

By the way this RED Minker look alike has been relisted under another user name.

The guy is still claiming it's the real deal infact number one no less.

He has been informed by many different people now that car is infact a TT250 with only cosmetic parts of a Minker fitted.

The TT plate states it's an F37 (TT250), TT sold it as a TT250 & it only has TT250 performance!

The listing breaks eBays rules & should be reported via the report item button before someone gets conned!
