mk4 cortina help please!

I have been given a mk4 cortina that's been in a garage in my mates compound for 10years but.... I have no key obviously it has no tax or mot so will go on my uncles recovery truck but I do not want to damage it getting into it and didn't want to break steering lock! so any idea welcome..

Some of those Granada / capri / Cortina locks can indeed be opened with a old key. The small nail in the alloy block can only be pushed in if the lock is turned to the first position.

If its doesn't work you can remove the plastic cover, remove the plastic part of the ignition switch, take a small chisel and carefully hit the 2 bold of the lock, on the right site of the bolds counter clock wise. now you can remove the complete lock housing.   

Now you have to options to remove the lock from the block, drill out the little nail or, beter, drill out the lock.

Update car is a mk4 Cortina 2ltr GL not a mk2 Granada as I was told. car has 4 dish rs alloys

Love the wheels, I'm sure it can be saved not scrapped, must be rare by now.

Too be honest bud Ii looks worse than actually is, the car is solid underneath is in very good condition, the worst area is drivers wing which needs replacing whole car is in primer minus 1 door rear arches have rust holes but are solid needs door seals as the are perished and I daren't start it as the hoses need replacing as they are perished to car has been garaged since 1995

I'm going to sell it, after a look over here is a rough list of what it needs:

window rubbers
pass front door catch
water hoses
brake reservoir rubbers
steering cowling
ignition barrel
driver wing
rear arch's (but they are not bad)
paint
and some engine parts, alternator, coil, battery and bulbs
