Why don't you build your own engine mounts and use poly bushings?

Its gives you much more freedom to position the engine the way you want.

Im modifying the mounting points on the crossmember and i have some new 2.8 rubber bushes I'm using for now.

I fits original mounting to right side engine. Easy fits, but left side

seems that by rotating the mount like that you shift the weight behind the mount. I prefer to modify the crossmember so everything stays inline on the vertical plane - engine half way point, mounting points and crossmember mounting points, all in line. I could be wrong but it seems they make them this way so I will too. How does the other mounting look?

Don't worry, i will start my project this week and post so you can tell me i'm doing it wrong too  ;)

capri71

ok i get what you have done now (cheers Ade) - top job

puuhapete

Thank thanks, I do not understand what you tell everything but I will try very hard.  ;D
Now i making you passenger side mounting and look this now. Welding MIG and it seem to little bad but maybe it´s all right.
down side better.

capri v8 driver

Maybe you should pre heat the aluminum before welding or use more current. The thicker the aluminum the more heat you need to get started and to keep the weld flowing.  The big problem with aluminum is that the heat displaces much more than with iron or steel where the heat stays more centered towards the weld.

I would clean the weld of the mount in the first picture and weld it again.

Maybe....etc
Yes, you are right but i think it works this case well. The car is made for driving, not the show.  ;)

I am not talking how beautiful you can weld or how nice you weld looks.

The engine mount has to support a lot of weight. You don't want a weld that's weak. The weld on the first picture looks very weak to me.

If the arm was steel and the welding was steel i would say strong enough - never gonna break but this cast aluminium and a dissimilar alloy mig wire. Better safe than sorry for the sake of another half an hour work ;)

puuhapete

You're right guys, you can never be too sure.
Believe me, it is strong enough. You can then laugh at me when it will be resolved and a violation of an engine.  ;D

I look new ecu and Dta s80 pro able to adjust 2 intake cam.

Anybody know any other ECU to do the same? MegaSquirt option is closed.

Whats wrong with the megasquirt?

The ms 3.0 and 3.57 with ms3x daughter board can control the VVT similar to the Dta s80 pro. http://msextra.com/doc/ms3/vvt.html

Good price. Do you need to make your own mods if you want vanos?

capri v8 driver

I don't use the VVT or vanos as my engine doesn't have that.

But how to wire it up and configure is described on the link I provided you.

Bimmer guys have there vanos working with ms3.

I'm using Emerald K6 for mine. I have it confirmed by Dave Walker that it can run the VVT and variable intake no problem. The y have a map for mine which probably be a good base map for yours. I'm going to get mine rolling road mapped but i know of a guy who bought the emerald with the map preinstalled and is more than happy with how it runs his Jag Duratec

xr4x4 twin dinky turbo, emerald k3 management,302bhp and 400ftlbs@21 psi

Thanks!
Laser cut company is three mails for my works and you know. ;)

capri71

I doubt it will be a problem since its only a starter ring. Other alternative would have been to cut the ring they weld to the flex plate for auto tranny for that engine... but its done anyway

Is your diff ratio similar to the BMW that box came from?

I'm using the jag box because my diff is almost the same ratio as the Jaguar diff 3.09 vs 3.06 - practically the same. gear calculator predicted 62 mph in 2nd and 155mph in 5th and 66mph at 3000rpm. My car is at least 600kg lighter though so should get there a lot quicker than the Jag and easily rev out in all gears. No overdrive or 6th gear like you but I don't generally cruise at 155mph ;)

Still wondering about flywheels and clutches though... want a light, single mass. Might use a mondeo ST200 one.
