puddle in my boot

 hi all.
Ive been having issues with my sierras boot leaking.
untill recently i put it down to one of the lenses as somone had overtightened it and pulled most of the studs out.
since replacing it it seems to have gotten worse, i removed both cleaned up the foam rubbers etc and refitted them with a quick spray of WD on the foam, and nipped up the bolts fairly tight.
but after a shower i keep finding a puddle in the spare wheel well and the gap inside the clusters between metalwork and foam filled with water that you can see has dripped inside the boot.
the car is off the road atm and parked with the nose slightly uphill.
i think the water is coming down the boot lid shut gap and being chaneled by the boot rubber onto the clusters but why is it draining into the inside not running past? could the overtightened foam be crushed and not sealing?

The foam is crap, it gets to tight after years, i used silicone sealant on mine and the problem is gone!

yeah ive been considering that but since a respray is on the cards i think i'll  try to make up some replacements for the foam stuff.
gaffer tape for now though

Yeah the rear light seals would be my first thought too.

In the past I have simply removed them, refitted them & the leak has stopped!

Could be the car was resprayed with the lights off making the foam hard so it don't seal, cracked light anything like that.

Usually a lot worse on the nearside light, take the lights out and check the body work onto which they sit is flat, very often it isn't, use a flat hammer from inside the boot and a block of hardwood to get light aperture section flat, then tighten down gently, using silicone either side of the gaskets and job is done.
